Deutsche Bank recently moved into a new 100,000 square foot, the six-story facility at East Point Business Park in Dublin’s docklands area.
Inksplash Cre8tive Workspace was commissioned to produce Irelands largest wall graphics for the reception area of the new facility.
Deutsche Bank, as one of the world’s high-profile patrons and supporters of fine arts, worked with international artist Jackie Irvine on the masterpiece that is 25m high (that’s correct, 81ft from the floor to the top of this giant work of art).
This project was almost a year in the planning process before we undertook the task of print and installation. As you can see from the pictures the installation had to be executed from scaffolding platforms due to restrictions that prevented us from using our usual method of mechanical platforms & cherry pickers.
Ahead for heights was needed as well as an eye for detail, which, luckily, is no problem for the Inksplash team. (Well, not all of us have quite the head for this kind of height, so some of us stayed with our feet firmly on the ground and supervised.)
The installation was completed over two days once the scaffolding platforms were in place, teamwork was key here. As this was the first time a wall graphic of this size has been done, careful planning was vital. There would be no practice run and no room for error.
Unlike when you put wallpaper on your living room wall, where you can put it up, move it around and straighten it before the paste dries, we used an extremely high tack vinyl, so we had to be sure that every single strip was 100% in the correct position before we applied, as once it went on it was NOT coming back off!
Challenging, but absolutely worth it. The finished result is a very impressive work of art, one-of-a-kind and we are very proud to have been part of it.
